Press Release: Celebrating One Year of Islamic Halaqas

    September 23, 2004

San Jose, California, U.S.A. -- With the assistance of God, the Islamic Halaqas Programhas been very successful. On Tuesday, September 14, 2004, we celebrated the first anniversary of the program at a home in San Jose, California. Appropriately, the topic of this Halaqa was "Thankfulness."

During the 2004 Hajj season, the Halaqa program went international and reached-out beyond the Bay Area, we organized a Halaqa in Holy Mecca and invited Nabi Raza Mir (a.k.a. Nabi Raza Abidi) to present its topic, which was Alam az-Zar (Arabic for "soul world"). The attendees of the Halaqa were Muslim Lebanese-Americans from various states.

In the spirit of unity, love, and cooperation, on Tuesday, September 21, 2004, Sayyed Mudassir Ali Shah Moosvi initiated a new year of Halaqas, God willing, by leading a Halaqa at the home of Hassan Dastgah in Cupertino, California. The topic of this Halaqa was "The Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice."

The Islamic Halaqa program was started when Nabi Raza Mir (a.k.a. Nabi Raza Abidi) was fulfilling his religious obligation of consoling the ill. We took advantage of Nabi Raza's visit and organized a Halaqa, during which Mir/Abidi introduced the attendees to Alam az-Zar (Arabic for "soul world") and discussed a number of metaphysical topics. Praise be to God in all matters, this was the beginning of Project Reach-out (a.k.a. Project M4) and a quest to celebrate the Religion of Peace in any and every home that opens its doors to Islam and the faithful.
